About  Us

Welcome to Imagine Music Academy!

Welcome to Imagine Music Academy (IMA), where our mission is to provide excellent and innovative music education, nurturing talent and fostering a love of music, serving Denton and the community, in faith based love of all people.

  • At Imagine Music Academy, we believe music is a lifelong gift — and it’s never too early (or too late) to start. Our mission is to make high-quality, personalized music education fun, welcoming, and accessible for every family in Denton. With plentiful scholarships available, we’re proud to make lessons affordable for any child who wants to learn.

We offer lessons in piano, guitar, percussion, and orchestra instruments, taught by passionate educators and professional musicians from the Denton Philharmonic Orchestra. Whether your child is just beginning or already passionate about music, our instructors meet them where they are and help them grow in skill, creativity, and confidence.

Students can choose 30-, 45-, or 60-minute lessons, plus enjoy opportunities for recitals, studio events, and even our unique Keyboard Orchestra — a fun way for pianists to play together just like a band.

Imagine Music Academy is more than a school — it’s a community. Families feel supported, students feel seen, and music becomes a joyful part of everyday life. With flexible after-school and weekend scheduling, we’re here to help your child shine — whether they dream of joining band, performing on stage, or simply enjoying the magic of music.

Piano/Keyboard

At IMA, piano lessons are more than just learning notes — they’re about creativity, confidence, and discovery. Students of all ages are welcomed into a culture of openness where music becomes a tool for growth, joy, and self-expression.

  • It’s a well-known statistic that children who study piano score 34% higher in math than those who don’t. People young and old who play piano use both sides of their brains, develop confidence, become self-reliant, and take an easy delight in creativity. Piano lessons have truly “come of age” here!

At IMA we recognize the value of our past and the importance of our future. We value the acoustic piano, the technique, the tone, and all of the literature from the past 300 years. At the same time, we embrace digital instruments, the ability to record, play along with tracks, and explore modern music. From pop songs and chord charts to praise band techniques, students are prepared for their future while still learning Mozart, Beethoven, Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, Disney, and more — all with the same excitement.

Group Piano

At IMA, students can enjoy group learning in our state-of-the-art Piano Lab featuring five Yamaha DGX keyboards. Each lesson blends fun, creativity, and technology to make music come alive.

  • Students can record themselves, play along with orchestral accompaniments at any tempo, and even convert MIDI files into audio or MP3s. With headphones, each student can focus while still connecting with the group — hearing classmates and the teacher as needed. The group setting encourages students to share discoveries, cheer each other on, and celebrate milestones with a joyful “Listen to what I can play!” The power of group learning is alive and well every day at IMA.

Keyboard Orchestra

IMA is proud to offer the unique Keyboard Orchestra experience — an ensemble designed just for pianists to create music together.

  • Across the country and even in universities, Keyboard Orchestras have opened new doors for piano students. Instead of practicing alone, pianists join peers in making music as a group, using the extraordinary sounds of modern digital keyboards. Students explore a wide range of genres — from classical and pop to rock, New Age, and even imaginative “Sound Stories” with special effects. It’s a rare opportunity for pianists to share the community and excitement of playing in an ensemble.

Guitar Lessons

From acoustic to electric, guitar is one of the most popular and versatile instruments to learn — with styles ranging from classical and folk to rock, pop, and beyond.

  • At IMA, students can dive into a wide range of guitar literature and techniques. Lessons include everything from reading chord charts and understanding progressions to developing the skills needed to play melodies, riffs, and solos. Students also get the joy of playing with others in small groups, building confidence while experiencing the fun of making music together.

Drum Lessons

Percussion offers endless possibilities — from drum set and mallets to hand percussion, rhythm is the heartbeat of music. Students build coordination, timing, and creativity while exploring a wide variety of sounds.

  • At IMA, percussion students can study drum set, snare, or auxiliary instruments depending on their interests. Lessons emphasize technique, rhythm reading, and playing with musicality. Whether preparing for band, sharpening skills for auditions, or simply learning for fun, percussionists gain experience across styles — from classical and jazz to rock, pop, and world music. Students also get chances to collaborate with peers, experiencing the essential role percussion plays in every ensemble

Band & Orchestra

At IMA, students can study flute, clarinet, brass, or string instruments with some of Denton’s finest musicians. Through our partnership with the Denton Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO), we bring world-class artistry directly into the lesson studio.

  • Many members of the DPO serve on our faculty, offering private instruction in clarinet, trombone, violin, viola, and cello. Their expertise brings both depth and inspiration to students of all ages, whether preparing for school ensembles, advancing technical skills, or simply enjoying the beauty of their instrument. Students gain not only strong fundamentals but also insight into performance and musicianship from professionals who actively perform on stage. Please see the STAFF section of our site to learn more about our distinguished faculty.
